Holy sheet, that's a good cake.

Cake:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  2. In a saucepan, boil the water and butter together.
  3. Add the flour and sugar, one cup at a time, alternating. Stir as you go.
  4. Add the baking powder and salt, then remove from the heat and stir.
  5. Stir in the sour cream, beaten eggs, and almond extract.
  6. Spread evenly on a sheet pan and bake for 22-25 minutes.

Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  1. Boil the milk and butter together.
  2. Whisk in the almond extract and powdered sugar.

Assembly:

  1. Spread the frosting evenly on the cake while hot.
  2. Allow to cool to room temperature.
  3. Cut into squares.
