Sweet and sour hot dogs over rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple tidbits or chunks in juice
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons white vinegar 
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1-2 hot dogs, cut in half lengthwise and then into bite-sized pieces
  • 1-2 bell peppers, diced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • White rice

Directions

  1. Cook the white rice by your preferred method.
  2. Separate pineapple from juice (you’ll use both).
  3. Combine pineapple juice, 1/4 cup sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and vegetable oil in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  4. Mix cornstarch and water into a slurry, then add to the saucepan and stir to thicken. Taste and add more sugar to your liking.
  5. Add pineapple tidbits/chunks, hot dogs, and bell peppers to the saucepan. Cook until everything is heated through.
  6. Serve over rice.
